For transport and operations managers
Sober, safe and legal on Monday. Convicted for Saturday night.
A half-day workplace course on your site, and a 15-minute Depot Toolbox Talk your own managers run on every shift. Both remove the one thing every one of these cases has in common: the driver didn’t know.
Why it costs you money
It tests chemistry, not impairment.
The drug driving offence in Section 5A of the Road Traffic Act is a limit offence. It does not ask whether the driver was affected. It asks what a blood sample contained. Feeling fine is not a defence and neither is a clean driving record.
When it happens you do not simply lose a licence for twelve months. You pay for the recruitment, the training and the downtime that replaces him, and you carry the disruption while you do it.
30,707
Drug driving endorsements added to UK licences in 2025 — one every 17 minutes, and the first year the figure overtook drink driving
72,662
Drivers currently hold at least one DG10 endorsement. It stays on the licence for 11 years
DVLA data analysed by IAM RoadSmart, 9 July 2026. RAC analysis of DVLA data, Freedom of Information request FOIR12833, published 19 May 2026. The rate is arithmetic on the 2025 figure.

How it works
Three steps, and we do the travelling.
Book a date
Tell us where you are and when your drivers and managers are on site. One enquiry is enough.
We deliver the half-day course on your site
One cohort, one session, delivered by our trainer. Anywhere in the UK, expenses charged at cost.
Every attendee leaves carded, attendance record on file
Then licence the Pack for the shifts and sites we didn’t reach, so your own managers keep it running.
What’s in the talk
Built to be delivered in a canteen, not a classroom.
A real case
Told by the man it happened to, who rang the police himself after a minor collision and was convicted anyway.
What the law measures
Limit, not impairment, and why feeling fine is not a defence.
Swab versus blood
What each test does, and what a driver should do if he is ever tested.
The two clocks
Why a driver’s own judgement reads the wrong one, and why nobody can give him a number.
A workplace decision rule
Behavioural and practical, built on the fact that his licence is his wage.
Questions, answered honestly
Including the one every room asks. The answer is never a number, and it is never a guess.
What you get
And what we record.
Every driver
A wallet card: the law in four lines — sober isn’t the same as legal, feel versus blood, accusation versus verdict, the bill — plus three confidential support numbers. It lives in a van door for years and does its job every time he glances at it.
You
A one-page brief and a signed attendance record for the training file: date, site, trainer, headcount, driver signatures, manager countersign.
The attendance sheet records attendance. Nothing else.
There is no observation field, no comment box and no “flagged” column, and none will be added. Nothing any driver says is recorded, reported to you, or retained anywhere. Support information goes to every attendee, so taking a card identifies nobody.
That is not squeamishness. If it worked any other way, the drivers who most need the card would never take one, and the talk would be worth nothing.
A question about your own policy
Worth asking before you need it.
Does your drug and alcohol policy say what happens between a screening test flagging and a confirmatory result coming back?
Most policies name the screening test and stop there. The gap is the period in between — who drives, who doesn’t, on what authority, and who decides. That gap is where the operational risk actually sits, and it is a great deal cheaper to close it on a quiet Tuesday than during an incident.
