Drug Drive Aware

About

He rang the police on himself.

Four years later he still hasn’t met a member of the public who knows what he was actually convicted for. That is the whole reason this training exists.

What happened

It started with a minor collision. He rang the police himself, to make sure everyone was okay.

He passed the breathalyser without a second thought. He had nothing to drink and nothing to hide.

Then came a roadside swab he had never seen before in his life. He gave it, for the same reason. It flagged.

He was convicted of drug driving for a substance he had never heard of, from a Saturday night that was two days behind him, on a Monday, with nothing whatsoever affecting his driving.

The realisation came in a solicitor’s office. The law he had been convicted under was not the law he thought existed. He had assumed drug driving meant driving while affected by something. It does not. It does not measure impairment at all. It measures what is in a blood sample.

Nobody had ever told him. Nobody tells anybody. That is the entire reason this site is here.

The ban ends. The search result doesn’t.

He lost his licence for over a year. There was a headline. There is still a Google result.

He rebuilt — started a business, retrained, started another one. This is not a story about a ruined life, because that would be untrue and you would know it.

But years on there are still doors those search results close, and jobs he never got an interview for where he knows exactly why. That is the part of the sentence nobody reads out in court, and it is the reason to make sure nobody else arrives where he arrived.

Cleared, and it still took months

Years later he was stopped again, for a broken wing mirror. The swab flagged again. The blood came back completely clear. No charge.

He has never offered a theory about why it flagged, and this site never will. There is no sample and no expert, so any answer would be a guess, and this site does not guess. What matters is the documented part: the swab screens, the blood decides. It worked in both directions.

But being cleared still took months of not knowing whether he had a job, a licence, or the same life as the week before — and nobody ever wrote to tell him it was over.

What this training is for, and what it isn’t

We explain the law. We do not argue with it, and we never will — the law did exactly what it says it does, and it is the law you would be tried under.

We do not tell anyone how to live, and we are not here to help anyone get away with anything. This exists because almost nobody — including most people who end up convicted — has ever been told what the offence actually measures.

We will never give you a number of hours or days, because nobody can, and anyone who does is guessing with your licence.

It’s your life and your decision. But after this, you’ll have no way of saying you didn’t know.

How this material is checked

Every claim on this site is written down in a register with its source: statute, public record, or the founder’s own case. Scientific content is held back until a qualified toxicologist has reviewed it — which is why you will not find detection windows or pharmacology here, and why the individual course has not opened yet.
